Hey folks. Has anyone converted their 750 Seca brake master cylinder to a bar-mounted type? I'm getting ready to dismember my '81 to replace the engine and maybe do some other "upgrades" while it's apart.

I'm really starting to hate the OEM MC setup, so I was thinking about getting a set of Maxim controls (left and right) and retrofitting them on the Seca. I would have to have custom lines made up, which is OK cause I wanted to go with SS lines anyway. Would a Maxim MC have enough volume to run two calipers plus the anti-dive?..

Would there be any reason NOT to do this?..

Do it! one of the best mods I did to mine.
I am not sure about the Maxim MC. I used an FJ600 Master and lines. Mounted right up on the bars exactly in the same position as the stock lever. I could not tell the difference under my hand when done.
Breaking is 10 times what the stock MC was. I almost launched myself the first time hard breaking.
It is easy to get at and check, looks good and is way more service friendly.
SS brake lines are right up there with the fuse panel replacement in MHO.
If you run double lines right from the MC to each side, you will need a double banjo bolt at the MC. or will have to set up a splitter if you go with 3 lines.

Hmmph didn't think about the angle.

I'll be on the lookout for an FJ600 setup then...

    Thanks!!

I did the swap, I first bought the cheap $45 MC from ebay. BIG MISTAKE, don't cheap out on yuor MC. I ended up buying a used brembo MC from a Ducati. Works great. I also have SS lines.

I also swaped my right controls for that of a Maxim, had to rewire the switch but that was cake.

I did it mostly because of my headlight swap. to fit the round bucket in there closer to the forks.
