ignition switch question

    hey i just got a 86 maxim s with 9000 miles on it...i noticed today when you move the ignition key when its running the back tail light with go off and on...it is kinda sloppy so do you think it just needs a new ignition switch..thanks

    You might want to pull it off and inspect it first. If it's spent time outside, there could be corrosion in the switch.

    More likely you have bad connections to the tail light. Most of the harnesses will have bullet connectors for rear turn and tail lights. Check those and check your bulb sockets. Could just be loose bulbs too.

    dont see any loose connections,just in case does anyone make after market switches that will work for this bike...they want 144.00 bucks for and oem switch....the after market switches i have seen do not match my numbers..they seem to fit every other bike but the 86 and 87 maxims...dont make any sense to me...?
