Guy wanted $35 and when I talked to him he said he would take $20. Supposedly it was running when he got it, I doubt it will anymore. But the carbs alone are worth more than $20. I was curious If anyone new what year it was by the VIN.

The VIN on my '82 seca is: 5G2-101116
The one on the spare engine is: 5G2-151339

He said it was an '81 but I don't know because he didn't know what bike it was from.

It is a YICS, It has a Seca instrument cluster just like my original one attached to it (reads 6000 miles) and it's VIN starts 5G2 just like my bike so I am thinking it may be an '82 engine instead of an '81. What do you guys think?

Whatever the year, it's a good $20 worth.

    Excellent Deal!

I took Engines off peoples hands a few years back. The Carbs paid for the aggravation. If the Engine turned-over and had good compression; I'd bring it to a local Bone Yard for a fast buck.

If the Engine was scrapped; I stripped it down and sold-off the Covers and Cases.

Man I'd take that thing ALL apart. Had to repost cause I'm stunned. Coil covers would go on my bike, carb peices, wires, valve cover, shims, manifold boots. Geez.. I'm acutally jealous!!

The only thing it is missing is the starter. It even has all the TCI unit, control wires, ignition coils, along with much more.

Chacal, how do you know that it was an 83 and it was that number produced? You know everything chacal.

I'm going to rebuild the carbs and put them on my bike so I can still ride around while I work on them. I am also going to polish all of the covers and put them on my bike. once again I can drive my bike while doing all this work.

Most of the other little electronics and stuff I'll either keep as a spare or sell cheap to anyone that needs them as long as I don't need them.

See, you answered your own question! :D

The "5G2" indicates a Seca, and "150101" is the STARTING number in the 1983 range of serial numbers, so anything higher than that number (like yours) is a 1983 model:
