Aircraft paint stripper. It won't damage the aluminum; but it WILL damage gaskets, rubber, etc. Best bet is to use it on pieces off the bike.

Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) blasting cleans them right up.
Are you the fellow selling the instrument cluster in Apache Junction?

so that would mean i would have to by blasting equipment, and block everything off so i dont get it inside anything.

i am disabled and am working with no budget. i would prefer free ways to do this, or ways that involve more manual labor and less cash. but thank you for the suggestion.
yessiree bob. i am parting the whole bike.

i was a little surprised. but if you need them.
they were a little sun faded and the paint on the lcd was faded away, but they work good when removed.
hope usps doesnt ruin them. i had them ship me a broken camshaft. a camshaft! came in 3 pieces!
"oh we didnt do it, must have been defective" - yeah right. it was only defective enough not to withstand being run over by a semi!

I've had two clusters delivered by USPS without problem. Typically the issues arise from lousy packaging. If you don't skimp on padding, you should be ok.

i've been stripping a motor myself and found aircraft stripper in the spray can has it's place but used with Ace hardware stripper, extra strength or heavy duty or something, is the way to go
the spray burns like heck if the overspray gets ya and the gell burns if your not careful with the brush
i brushed what i could reach then sprayed the rest, needed a calm day with the cars far away
i plugged the intake and exhaust with rags after a good shot of wd40
and hosed it off with a small gas power washer
went over it about three times and got about 95% off someplaces are tough and are going to need sanding

I have a quite similar dilemma. The idiot seller who sold me the bike decided to paint the whole thing black, hoping to hide some of the rusty or whatever spots, since he thought that might make the bike look better.

Sure, do so when you're selling a bike for more than $300 (that's what I paid for it) - but no, just waste your own pain and then create lots of extra work for me. The bike is running very well now, but is UGLY AS HELL! I'm dreading to even think of how to take all the nasty stuff off!
