hi all, I just got my bike back from the shop...1982 maxim 550.....i had the clutch cable and plates done......the bike runs wicked except for one small anoying problem. when the bike is in nutural running there is a ruff metal on metal sound i hear from the clutch area....as soon as i engage my clutch it goes away.....i also do not hear it while its in gear or while driving....it is just while running in nutural......any ideas.....i was thinking because of the new plates it may just be ruff and need some time to smooth out but i really dont know.....as for the clutch performance....its great ! just this anoying sound/ vibration while in nutral.........heres a pic of my 1982 GEM....i love it

There is a "trick" to assembling the 550's clutch that isn't a concern on the other bikes. It's possible that the shop wasn't aware of it and doesn't have it together correctly.

Ask the shop how they aligned the asymmetrical drive (plain) plates when they put it back together.
