customizing a maxim 1100 83

    can any body tell me if you can get aftermarket handlebars on these bikes?i'm looking to custom up the bike a bit. need some help on questions as yes...im a newbie.what fits on these motorcycles? cause such sites as motovan and jc whitney don't really help me but got some really cool shit, i would like to add and change to the bikes look but am stuck any help?

    Well the stock bars are 7/8" so if you want to retain your stock controls you need 7/8" bars.
    A place to start.

    risers from a motocrosser that mount to the triple tree with a single bolt will allow you to mount any 7/8" bar you want.

    That's how I did mine.

    I have purple motocross bars on mine.

    Direct fit bars are a no. You can get adapters to mount other bars, or you can install the tripple trees from a XS1100. The XS1100 will accept any 7/8 bars. Changing risers would be easier.

    Is this different from year to year? I have an 83 XJ750 that I just put a set of 7/8 bars on in place of the stockers and they fit the stock clamps. :?:
