First off let me say that I am new to your wonderful site. Second while I do own a Yamaha, I do not own a XJ series bike. I have an XV series. I have a 1982 XV750 Virago. There are a list of serious modifications done to this bike. One of the modifications is the complete front end off a 1982 Seca with dual discs and anti-dive. Now I have poured through the mountains of information and pretty much confirmed what I though was wrong. I have the spongy front brake syndrome. I believe its the lower lines from the splitter to the calipers. I have read that there was a source through this forum, that has stainless lines. Is he still around and are the lines still available? Thanks all!

The source is member Chacal. PM him. He is reliable, knowledgeable, and probably has your part. I purchased braided steel brake lines from him a week ago. They are pretty sweet.

Well my new friends, I PMed him and I have not recieved any messages. Is he fairly regular on this site? Does anyone know him to get a hold of him? Sorry if I am seeming to be a pest. This is not my intent. I am merely trying to put some extra jingle in someones pocket all while being able to stop my bike. Thanks everyone who is being so kind in helping me.

He has had problems with power and what not, they had some storms. Give him another day or two.

    He'll come around.
The PM system is flakey for me sometime.
    Try emailing him

Don't quite think he's doing this on the side for a few extra bucks...

Hey, Len... how about putting some pics of your vast parts empire in the next XJ calendar? Better idea... put out your own XJ4EVER calendar. You, the warehouse, your proximity to the Delta shipping hub, the worn-out keyboard... :D

What color you want those in? That will tell him what part number to reference. Clear, black, red, blue.

Hey XV, I received and responded to your e-mail, sorry for the delay, my internet provider has been working EXTRA HARD to qualify as worst f-ing business in existence in the world today, or ever was, or ever could be. But we're back in action as of 10pm EST tonight, and I think I've got all the responses (e-mail and PM's) cleared up now.........

Just be aware, that the lines that I quoted you are for the XJ750 Seca models, and I don't know how well they are going to fit on the Virago. If you are using the complete front forks from a 750 Seca, then the lower lines (to the calipers from the distribution block----which I also quoted for you----and from the calipers to the anti-dive units)----should be golden.

BUT, I will NOT have the line from the distribution block TO THE MASTER CYLINDER for your application. The 750 Seca's used a cable-operated m/c mounted down on the triple tree, and I suppose you are using a standard handlebar-mounted style m/c. So that line would have to be custom fabricated, which I can do, but it's going to take some back-and-forth trial fitting, etc. to get it right, and there will be some additional fees for that custom work.

Calender? Huh. I'd just like to get this darned catalog finished!!!

Well since the bike is slowly being morphed into a Midnight Model, they will be black. I am definitely interested in the lines. My sidejob will allow me to purchase the lines in the next week or 2. This site is just as awesome as my XV site. I am glad to be a part of both. I however do not know the XJs as well as I should. But in the very least, its a Yamaha!

WOW! Will ya' just look at that! That engine is obviously running quite a bit lean, just check out that discoloration on the header pipe, right by the head.

I should hope he fixes that before he, ummm, rides her again........

Yeah, and not only that, but look at that funny little ratchet mechanism on the front drum brake, about the 2-o'clock position.

Now, if that kind of technological oddity won't turn heads, I don't know what will...........

I think I am learning too much here...
It's probably lean, causing the blue-ing, because of that big aftermarket exhaust it is probably not jetted correctly...

And yet I still can't keep my eyes off how good a grip she has on that shock...
