    Hi,

I have a 1983 XJ1100 maxim. It was running fine last year.
I tried to start it. After much time and effort it started
but only the two outside cylinders are firing. I checked by
feeling the exhaust pipes and the two inside ones are cold.
    It runs really rough.
Has anyone else had the same problems? Anyone have
suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

Spark to middle two comes from same coil. Have you checked for spark yet?

Check for spark as noted and check the plugs - they could be fouled. If you have spark check for fuel.

Spark - Fuel and air. Could be a lot of things if no spark but we can start there

I have a similar problem. I have been conversating with some of the other members on possible issues. Mine is relative to no spark from one coil. After testing, I found the coil IS good. I am now checking/replacing pick ups. I plan on pulling it back apart this weekend to check for any pinched wires and cleaning all grounds (again). I am not getting a pulse from the one pickup side. It is not sending signals to the CDI.

The thread I think is labeled "No spark, please help".

    Good Luck!

Test the coils by switching around the leads temporarily.
I had this problem and it was one of the coils.

    Awesome,

Okay, I will check for spark and check the leads/coil.

    Thanks...
