Well after 13 years in the barn and now with the carbs completly torn down and cleaned, new tires, forks rebuilt, gas tank toally overhauled, front brake calipers overhauled, fuse box replaced, petcock overhauled, much more then she will ever be worth, but as I told my second wife this bike has already made it past any marriage 27 years in my possesion.

Well I now have to synch the carbs, the throttle is sticking abit, when shifting to different gears the throttle stays up just a bit to long, She idols half way descent. Not bad for 13 years in a barn and first time tearing down the carbs, I guess I must have been pretty good with the floats, maybe, I will check the float levels now since I know she starts.

Do you think the sticking idol is synching issue? Will check the plugs also to see how they are burning. I have electric issue, warning lights all lit up and steady.

    82 750 Seca..

I think the carbs not returning to idle correctly is fuel mixture screw settings, bit they also need to be synced correctly. Both of my xj's would return to idle after the mixture screws were adjusted right, before that when I let off the throttle it would take a while before it returned to idle.

Also, I was able top sync the carbs correctly but the mixture screws I could not seem to get quite right. I had to bring them to a very experienced mechanic each time to have that done.

Well started to get the syn done, having a hard time keeping idol up where the Carbtune II will read, I have to turn the throttle cable adjustment up to get it up but it goes way up on the gauge. My number 2-3 carbs are much higher then 1-4, started to turn down 2, to adjust to one and I went back to my sync tool (bought the retro from Len, Question I have is

When you install the retro sync tool should it go in all the way? When I put it in all the way to the red disk I cant lock it down. If I pull it out about a inch I can turn the lever to tighten it down. Now I am thinking that I am not blocking all the passages......

Now the engine is to hot, Will wait to later. Also bought the bowl fuel height gauge (glass tube with hose. I open the bowl drain and the bowl drains. If I lift the gauge up to the float bowl the level is down half way on the bowl. BUT, the hose is 3/4 full of fuel. I am sure the proceedures are on here to properly check bowl level. Should I worry what is in the hose?

    Thanks...
