Ok I am planning on repainting. I have yet to decide on color though my wife says stick to black. My real question is which gastank should I use. I have the stock 650 Seca tank and I also have a tank from a 750 seca which is bigger and has a fuel gauge. For more pictures go here. http://picasaweb.google.com/marksaner/GasTank#

Let me know what you think.

If you're going to repaint anyway, why not use the 750 tank simply for the extended range and usefulness of the gauge?

You could leave it red (I'd make it shine though) and add some red highlights to your riding gear (jacket/pants/helmet) or maybe some red tubing on the seat a la http://www.xjbikes.com/coppermine/displ ... d=837.html

Maybe my sense of style is whack but I think it could look pretty nice.

You're going to be on 2 wheels either way so you already look good right?

I agree with Bandit. If you're going to repaint anyway, go with the larger tank and gauge.

I'd stick with all black. I don't like the red.

Don't use the larger tank, sell it to me instead :) (In other words, I think a larger tank = better.)

So, why are you asking our opinion? What are your thoughts? In what ways are you having a hard time making a decision?

Well I like the idea of the bigger tank and I think the 750 tank looks more aggressive which I like. My biggest concern is the gap between the seat and the tank and the gap between the tank and the side covers.

I guess my big question is do you think the 750 tank looks out of place?

Both tanks would take pretty much the same amount of work. The whole reason for purchasing the 750 tank was to have a spare to have on the bike while I fixed which ever tank I wanted.

    Got it.

I didn't see the differences before.
Personally, I think the visual aspect of the gap between the tank and side cover will be negated once the color of the two match.

I don't really see a gap between tank and seat, but that is probably a function of scale - life size down to like 1/12th size.

It can't hurt to carry a little more gas so go big! color is all about you, as in what do you like better, from a tech stand point red will show less body flaws also show less scratches as it gets older, but then there's something sexy about a shiney black bike cruisen down the road!! What color is your gear? I just painted my max solid red last night but I haven't put it back together yet

My gear is all blue so I was thinking if I don't stick with black maybe go with some sort of blue. The FJR's have a nice blue color as well as the 05 XJR1300. I also like the maroon/burgundy that the FJR was in a few years ago.

The bonus with going all black is I can get it powdered coated at work for free :).
