hey folks - just thought I'd let you know if any of you are in the SW US, you're not alone!

There are several XJ owners here in the Phoenix area, as well as New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and So Cal.

If you're in the Phoenix area and want to go for a ride, or just have an questions about your bike, I'd be glad to help.

I'm out in the E. Mesa/A.J. area. Dean just got a new job and moved to a new house and bought a new Kawasaki so he's pretty busy.

There are some good wrecking yards in S. Phx that have lots of parts but most of us use ebay for parts since it's more convenient than driving downtown.

Hello all, I live in Albuquerque, NM and we have a pretty sweet motorcycle salvage yard here, I know I have a 77 KZ1000 and a 83 XJ750 SECA and I think I keep those guys in business.

I'm holding it down up here in flagstaff. Picked up my 650 less than a year ago and I'm still working out some mechanical kinks while trying to be creative with my mods. Best thing about the snow is it keep me working and dreaming of spring time.

Got a brother in Yuma that knows them fairly well. We have a mutual friend out in Mesa, I expect he'll be visiting him sometime soon. Might be able to swing by. I'll ask him tonight.

Another Colorado rider here (well, I will be in a month or so- counting down!)

I'm south of Denver, in America's largest planned community, Highlands Ranch. Good news is that we're very accessible, bad news is that it's boring. But boring is good when learning to ride a bike, I suppose.

brand new colorado rider here. Live near city park/downtown area. Got a beat up old 1980 xj650 that I'm half-excited about and half-dreading having to fix up every time I ride it. Used to live in Phoenix (way to hot) and los angeles (way too expensive) and I think that CO has pretty much perfect riding weather for most of the year.

Hello! I'm a new member here. Just joined 11/01/09 and got my XJ 650 10/30. I'm in Tucson AZ and I need some help getting this "81 back on the road. I also have a KZ 650 and a Ol" honda CB 350. Have owned and ridden a 70's XS 650 in my past. ( shoulda never let it go too). Motorcycles and air cooled VW's are my disease and I don't want a cure!

I've gone and come back. Sold that '81 Maxim. Never did get it running. It DID look a LOT better when I sold it. I'm back because now I have a '91 Seca II. Pretty clean bike. I might go naked next year or 2, but for now I just want to get it running well so I can take my XS down for overhaul.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread since the last reply was over three years ago.

I live in Riverside (SoCal) and am the "transitional" owner of an '81 XJ650 Maxim.

I say transitional because it's actually a gift I bought for my son but I'm making sure it's up to snuff before I hand it off to him.

So for the time being I'm putting miles on it and diagnosing problems that I find along the way and hopefully repairing them. So I imagine I'll be picking other people's brains on this website to try and get that accomplished.

I've already been in contact with hog fiddles and he's been a lot of help to me. Thanks!
