I am having a hard time finding a good used gas tank for my Seca 400. Mine is badly rusted. Just wondering if anybody else who had a problem finding a tank tried to fit one from a 750?

The 400 Frames are different than the XJ's ....
If you could find a 550 maybe it would be close....

Maybe if guys with spare Seca tanks could post a few pics, especially from the underside??????

rust is cleanable...is there holes or something? Pour some Muriatic Acid in there and stand back!

Ya, mine has many holes. Getting tired of patching them. The Seca 750 tank looks similar in pictures I look at. It looks wider, but I am just worried about the dimensions where the tank meets the side covers.

I think a 750 tank is gonna be way too big.

550 Seca MIGHT fit, it's the least "stylish" of all of them, basically just flat along the bottom.

I can do some pics and measurements on my spare tank when I get home.

I think it will come down to frame differences being a possible issue...
Some good underside shots and dimensions will really help

ya, you are probably right. the 750 tank might be too big. looking at my 400, when i turn the handlebars the forks have very little clearance where they fit into the tank indents. Unless the 750 is not much longer. Any measurements you can get would be appreciated. thanks

The 750 tank will not fit which means the 650 wont either. The 400 Special tank won't even fit. I had a 400 with a really bad tank and never found another that would fit. That was before I knew about this site though and before I knew about the Seca 550. If there are no holes try removing the rust. Search for it on the forum there are several methods people have been using. If there are holes take it to a metal shop and see if they can weld them up for you.

thanks for the dimensions. I think i found a reasonably good tank from a 400. better than mine anyway. i don't think the 550 tank will fit too well around the handlebars. the 400 has deep indents for the forks.
