Hi. I'm looking to replace the exhaust on an '83 XJ750 maxim in Canada.

If i lived in the states I'd probably order form macperformance.
    macperformance 4-2 exhaust

They will ship to Canada but i have no idea what kind of duty/customs fees/charges i'm going to get hit with. So if there's any chance of finding a Canadian dealer I'd like to go that way.

Does anyone know where i can look in canada for this? I'm new to the scene so i don't know the names of any canadian pars dealers yet.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

You might want to look at getting a welder or pipe guy to make you a set of headers and some can duplicate the collector if you have pictures or measurements and then get a set of slip on HD mufflers.

I don’t know what kind of luck the rest of you have had with macperformance, but speaking for myself they suck, I ordered a 4into1 header and muffler from them back in Feb 09 and they said it would take 2+ weeks because it was a special order, I said
“Cool, get it built and send it” three weeks later I call them to find out where it is, after sifting and sorting through papers and asking everyone (Sean) could talk to, he tells me it never got ordered. What?!! Then he asks if I still want them to order it, I said yes but instead of shipping from the manufacturer to them and then to me can I get it shipped directly to me, sure they said. 7 days later (Chris) from macperformance calls me to say they can’t ship it directly to me, it has to go to them to be inspected. I said “fine - rules are rules, where is it now?” He says so do you still want us to order it? “NOT ANYMORE, it has been a month and you haven’t even moved the paperwork from your office to the manufacturer” it took me another week to get my money refunded. It could have been bad luck or their way of telling me to buy a newer bike but this customer was not satisfied.

Well - I can't seem to find a source in Canada -- best sugesstion would be to call around to a few bike shops and see if they happen to carry exhausts.

But OldBikeBarn does carry them, and I've read a few people have had good luck with them:

On this bike the headers are decent. And even the mufflers aren't totally done. But the collector essentially has no bottom to it. Completely rusted away.

Initial searching by a friend had no luck finding just a collector. Since the headers and mufflers could probably use a replacement the thought was that the easiest thing to do was get a whole exhaust system. This was theoretically going to be easier even if it cost a bit more.

I'll keep looking. Any other thoughs will be appreciated.

I ordered a MAC 4-2 on Ebay last year and had no problems with delivery, customs, or fit. I ordered the XJ700 one and it fit my XJ750 without any issues. The customs charges, shipping and exchange still made them worth it.

You know I was looking for the 4-2 Collector Box for my 83 XJ750 - I couldn't find anything in Canada. I ended up buying a Mac 4-1 Exhaust from BikeBandit.com.

It was well worth it. Much cheaper than the same systems on ebay, and it arrived within a (business) week from CA.

Now I have a complete 4-2 stock exhaust. The collector box rattles slightly due to some cracks in the heat shielding, but the headers and mufflers are still in great shape.
