I've almost got my mixture screws set perfect. Thats a good feeling. I've put new jets in and synced and whatnot and Today, she ran FANTASTIC!
I felt amazing on her today. The sun was shining and it was just wonderful. I got her up to 55 in 5th gear at 4k rpms. Shes NEVER done that with so little effort. And on the ride home I actually went the speed limit, 45 for about 7 miles from work, and as I had her in fourth gear just cruising my RPMS were actually slowly dropping as she got warmer. I started at 4k at 45 mph and she went down to 3.5k at 45mph after a a couple miles.
I still hear a slight pop at 3k rpms. I cant for the LIFE of me figure out what the heck the problem is!
But, all I can say is,
    Sweet Ride Today
    -Chris

Hey Chris a good tune makes the bike great fun. I think I'm still down for a week or 2 but nothing I can do about it.

Anyway tell us more about your pop at 3k - is it a miss or what?

See thats what I cant figure out! Its only between 3 and 3.5k. Its very faint, its not a super loud exhaust pop, like I originially thought. Its coming from the engine I think. I've put my ear to both exhaust pipes and its not coming from there, though the emission from the pipes isnt synced and sounds a bit sporatic at times. Its a steady sound, but not dead on, and on the right side.
It was worse though mind you. And after I changed the Y-10 needle and the main jets in all carbs it sounds a little better. But I just cant single it out

Hmmm, after a rather long ride today while running errands I put her back in the shed and let her Idle for 5 min. Gonna check the plugs again. So, she's still popping at Idle. Not a lot, but noticeable. The Tach is blipping very so slightly when she pops. So Maybe she's running rich? When I get my Idle Mix Screws Dialed in you guys think the pop'll stop?

Why would RPMs drop as she "warmed up" as the same speed in the same gear. Wouldn't that indicate slippage while "cool" and that can't be good. If throttle twist got lower (at same RPM) as she "warmed up" that would indicate better performance.

Or am I somehow forgetting something here? Not to make it rain on you fun ride...

Honestly maybe it was my imagination.. I could have upshifted, and looked again and i was goin 45 at 3.5k rpms. Anyway, she's never ran so good. Usually 45 at 4.5k in 4th or 4k in 5th, so still awesomeness

Yes, the idle should smooth out so there are no "blips".
It will purr at one solid tone.

Hopefully I can afford my Colortune in the next week or so, and I'll kill the blips in my Idle.
Wish someone near me had one! There is only like 2 people on this site that have a Maxim in my area though

Colortune will get u in the ballpark. It is great for setting the idle. Then you will have to do some plug chops to fine tune.

I agree with Hound. Your pop may be during the transition from Idle to mains. Getting the idle mix right should help smooth it out.
