I'm almost done building my bike 81 xj650 I'm out of money for now due to vacation next month. But when I get back I want to put a new headlight and speed-o tach get rid of some of that big mess. Find a right hand side cover anyone have one for sale I look on ebay almost every day but always get out bid thats why I just made a filler for now. But what do you guys think? Anything I should change or do differnt? This is my first street bike I almost like it more than my dirt bike. Thanks for all the help I've got and read on the site this place rocks.

The rear fender looks good, can you get a picture from behind, I'm curious what the taillight and stuff looks like. overall it looks great, especially the nicely polished engine. I think the front fender would look better painted blue.

Looks great +1 on the front fender - looks out of place. I like the rear fender and the seat - nice clean lines

If the chrome on the fender is at all like the crome on the peg mount pieces on my seca, the chrome will not be very think and will probably sand right through it. Mine had some pits so I sanded and polished the aluminum and painted the groves. Key is to get rid of the shine...

very nice your ride looks really good with the harley fender and drag style bars. Paint that front fender to match or buy a new one you can find nice new fender blanks on ebay for under $25 solid 10 ga steel.

Man that engine looks good. I havn't been able to get mine to shine like that.
Don't know if you have seen my bike. I saw you were thinking about changing the headlight and speedo, and thought I would post it. I think we have had some of the same Ideas.
I cut my front fender down smaller, and primed and painted right over the chrome. Just scuffed it up before I did it.

Heres that pic of the back. Hey Turkey I really like your bike that thing is tight I'm glad you posted it your going to have to tell me where you got the headlight and how you mounted it. I like what you did with the wheels too are they stripped down thats what I want to do to mine stip and polish but thats going to have to wait for winter. I am going to tear it down this winter and paint the frame and go over the whole bike with a fine tooth comb. Is that seat custom its bad ass mine is a harley seat I had to peel the cover off heat the plastic up and mold it to the bike and cover it back up to get a nice fit I only payed 23.00 for it but it don't cover the sides like yours so I made that little filler piece under the seat above the side panel on the left side. Thanks guys keep the ideas coming the gears are turning more everyday.

I wouldn't bother trying to find a right side cover...I would just make a matching left side cover. The one you made looks much better than the stock one.I love the stance of your bike!

The break line is a braded line from JP cycles. You can buy the line at a custom length and then order any size or angle of banjo bolt you need.

The rest of the lines are covered in that fake cheap braded SS look alike stuff. But that stuff really looks good.

Rims were bead blasted and then I clear coated them. I used clear primer, and high heat clear coat so it would hold up better.

Headlight came off of ebay. I think it might have been 30 or 40 bucks. I just cut a little piece of aluminum, bent it to the right angle, polished it, and bolted it to the bottom tree. Speedo came off ebay too. I just bolted it on with another piece of polished aluminum.

What did your rear fender come off of? I like having the light and plate under it. Rumor has it my side mounted plate mounted vertically will be illegal soon

The back fender I got on ebay 10.00 , 12.00 shipping scored on that one but it just said sport bob fender I don't know much about harleys so I don't know if a sport bob is the type of bike or not. and the plate and light holder came with it.

What size is the front tire? It may be my eyes playing tricks on me, but it seems to fill out the fender a little better than the standard 100 size.

ashelgreen - nice looking bike! I like the side cover you fabricated a lot more than the stock one. If I were you, I'd just make a matching piece for the left side and sell off the stock cover.
