I have a situation. I owned a 1985 Maxim X. It stopped running one day and I took it to the bike shop. They told me that it needed an ignitor. They also told me that they don't make them anymore. Through long process I found a used one and bought it. This did not fix the bike. The bike shop told me it must be bad. So after some research I found a company in New Zealand that makes a new replacement, ERD Hyperpak Performance Ignition. I bought that too. This still did not fix the bike. SOOOO I troubleshot the bike myself and found it was a bad ignition coil. THIS FIXED THE BIKE.
So now I have a perfectly good used original Ignitor and a good new aftermarket ignitor. I have since sold the bike. These two ignitors are now for sale. Send me an E-mail at kevinjones588@yahoo.com if you want either one. I paid $130 for the used original and about $170 for the new aftermarket ignitors. I know they both work because I installed them on my bike after I replaced the coil and they both work great.
I'd take $70, shipping included, for either one.

Update the aftermarket hyperpak ignitor has been sold. The OEM used one is still up for sale.

Out of curiosity, did you notice any change in performance (good, bad, or ugly) when you were running hte Hyperpak ignitor vs. using the stock factory versions?

The Hyperpak ignitor performed just as well. When I installed it to check it out, I rode for about 10 miles and there was no difference that I could tell.

Where did you find the hyperpak? Could you post a link? Do you know if they make one for the 650?
