carb kit

    I was wondering if getting a carb kit will actually be worth the 100plus bucks spent for it. How much performance would it help?

    Conentional wisdom (the BEST kind of wisdom there is) on this site sys to take your carbs apart and replacve only the parts that need to be replaced. Throwing moey at a kit to replace parts that aren't out if specs is just throwing away good money.

    I agree with WAMAXIM, in general it is worth while to replace the worn parts only.

    However are you referring to the so called performance kits? Any gain in performance form these kits is going to be minimal IMHO.

    If you do your carbs right , You'll find it will work as best as it possibly can. Remove the carbs and break them down. Clean as they were surgical instruments. Replace throttle shaft seals, Polish slide bores, Replace fuel tube o-rings, Mixture screw o-rings, Needles and seats, Make up a stand and get the float levels perfect, Bench Sync. Reinstall and make sure your valves are set. Sync and get the mixture screws set correctly.

    Go and have fun riding that bike.

    Make sure your brakes are in good shape and replace if needed. You'll have to depend on them more than ever now.

    I have no idea how to test all of that. Im a computer guy not a mechanic : P
