Ok, so the one thing that kept me from riding at night unless I absolutely had to was the rather anemic 40/55 Watt stock headlight. It was so poor that if I got a car within 50' behind me, I couldn't see the road in front of me because of my own shadow.

So, Sunday I put in the Hella Eurovision Plus headlight I ordered from Chacal. It just dropped right in with next to no effort. All I had to do was to shift some of the wires out of the center of the bucket and it fit perfectly.

So, riding briefly after dark last night - WOW! What a difference! The low beam on this is a lot brighter and is better focused than the high beam on the old headlight was. I checked out the high beam and it looked like a freaking searchlight out across the golf course!

    Yes they are!

Definitely well worth the $65 investment to be able to better see the rabbits, squirrels and other obstacles and debris on the road at night...without becoming part of it!

You definitely do NOT want to become road debris!

Sorry for jacking the thread, but as i'm curious i googled about the Headlight and it turned out that "...they have replaceable bulbs, so you don't have to buy a whole new unit if one burns out." :?: :?: :?:

Well, in all my life i never found a bike or car where you can't replace the bulbs... do in the US are in use some kind of different headlights than in Europe?

Naw, not a hijacking at all. It's actually a good question considering the different makes/models and options available in different areas.

Up until the last 20 years or so, most US vehicles came with sealed beam headlights. Even my last pickup (a '93) still used them.

I know the 550 Seca's ('81-83) were all equipped with a sealed beam headlight, while a number of the larger bikes used the modular system instead.

Andreas, we're just now sorta-kinda getting around to legalizing the use of the Euro-style headlight beam pattern (a much better design) here in the US.

We still have alignment lugs cast into the front glass of some of our healights......
