Creating a "louder exhaust" may well require rejetting ... be careful.

I don't know what "stage 1" jet kits will do or how that will be affected by a "louder" exhaust. "louder" suggests less baffles, less restriction, which will through off the air flow balance. Be sure you check with someone who knows all about rejetting and such issues.

'Course, if you wanted louder, why not just get one of those damned Harley's in the first place?

Sorry, I like a quite bike that purrs along. I hate those jerks that go through residential areas or places where people are out and exposed to sound deafening the world around them.

Congrats! Also check-out www.maxim-x.com if you haven't run across it yet.

Definitely be careful doing anything that changes flow at the carbs or exhaust. The X's were tuned optimally when they were built. Changing air flow in or out requires a retune that can take a lot of time and patience.

And on the exhaust, there was another user looking for one. They are getting harder to find whether they be stock or aftermarket. MAC was making an exhaust for the X, but last time I looked at their website, they didn't have one listed.

If you are convinced that you want to change your exhaust, what shape is the one on the bike now? What do you want for it? I know someone looking.

You know i just realized that i was asking the wrong question. I am looking for slip on exhaust, not the entire exhaust.

joefriday77: the bike is in great shape. it has 34000 miles and rides nice. i need to put forward controls on it and maybe some slip on exhaust to make her a little loader..

I think that some people have gotten a harley slip-on to work with some fabrication. Basically, if you go outside of stock, you will have do some fabrication to get something to work unless someone else is aware of a source that I am not. If it changes the flows, then you'll potentially have to rejet. They can be a tad finicky and require extra attention.
