It's a caliper boot. Yamaha says it's discontinued and obsolete but I need it to rebuild my brakes. The part number is: 4L0-25917-00-00.

    Thanks.

You could try mikesxs.net. They sell caliper boots (part #29-0017,$9 each),and although they were designed for the XS 650 twin cylinder bikes, many Yamaha parts were universal to many different models. It is worth a look...

I just received a reply from Len. And I quote:

HCP9813SET2 Aftermarket brake caliper retainer plate pin rubber DUST BOOTS, used on either side of the joining pin that retains the caliper body to the retainer plate. This specially formed accordian bellows boot is usually disintegrated on original calipers, and interferes or prevents the caliper from "floating" properly against the retainer plate. Use 2 per caliper on all XJ550, XJ750 Seca, and XJ1100 (front calipers only) models. Set of two boots does one caliper:

gitbox - your profile pic is awesomely hilarious...and speaking of awesome, is Len like, a deity, or something? Is he practicing XJ alchemy? How DOES he do that, "yeah, I got that!" thing? All hail Chacal, Maximus Mostus!

I realize this is an old post, but I have the same problem. Are these boots still available somewhere?

    Thanks much,
    Mark.
