    Hello all,

I just recieved crashbar/highway pegs that I'd won on eBay recently. I have a question though. They came with the pegs pointing in (#1) but that just doesn't seem right to me. I've switched one side (#2) and the attached picture shows them each way. I imagine they'd be more likely to catch on things. What do you all think? Should they point in or out?

    thanks,
    mikeg

I'd have them out. The other option is with it mounted.. see what feels better in or out.. My guess would be out.

I doubt there will be room for your feet in once mounted. They are probably in for shipping.

By the way you got a steal on those!

I did mount it and I have to admit that my foot feels a bit trapped with them pointing in. Plus, I could see melted rain pants in my future since my legs could brush the engine if I'm not careful.

Bill, I know, I was shocked when I won them for that price! The chrome is execellent although there is some scraping on one corner, looks like the bike they were on may have tipped over or dumped at very low speed.

This morning I was able to upload to my gallery the same picture I couldn't upload last night. Either my computer was having issues or the site was. My money is onmy computer being the problem.

    thanks for the input.

You can get fold up versions of the pegs ( I have them on mine) so they don't hang up in close quarters but you will find it is not really an issue most of the time.

I had one very similar to that on my 650 Seca. I mounted them both ways and wasn't comfortable with them in either position. Too high and my foot felt trapped in the inward position. I was going to buy some pegs that clamp on when I scraped it going into a turn. The first time was kinda cool. How 'bout that? I scraped some hard parts! The second time I was committed to a corkscrew turn with my wife on the back and I hit it hard. Once and then twice. I had barely enough room to shallow it out without going off road. The thing was removed as soon as I got back to the house. It robbed too much ground clearance.

    Mike,

I don't know, either there were some differences between what I have and what you had or you lay your bike over WAY further than I do. I glanced as I was taking some fairly tight corners and it looks like I've got plenty of room. It doesn't look like I lost much, if any, clearance. I will keep an eye on it for a bit though.

I have to say though, the highway pegs are handy at the moment since I tweaked my knee Friday and it feels good to put it out straighter than the standard foot pegs.

Would like to make one more point on the danger of hwy bars and pegs that few people think about.( Keep in mind that I run bars and pegs on all my bikes ) You really need to be careful in turns where there are curbs. if you ride like I do cutting the inside of corners A curb will lower those crash bars 7-8" and you really do not want to hit a curb while making a turn.
    Just my 2 cents.
