    Hello all!

Just today I bought a Maxim XJ700 with 27700 on the ticker and the bike runs like a dream. The guy I bought it from really didn't know too much about the bike except that he "took it into the shop each spring and let them tune it up." Whoever he took it to knew what they were doing. The bike sounds great! Looks great too! I'll probably need new tires sometime soon. And, I'm going out to buy a battery tomorrow morning. But, for 800.00 it can't be beat! Cosmetically, it needs a lot of cleaning... hours and hours scrubbing off that old varnish material on the engine.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to use?

The guy was no neatnik, that's for sure.

I'll post some pics tomorrow when the sun is up. I really enjoyed driving it home. The plugs look like they are running a bit lean, but with some adjustment, I'll have the bike running even better.

I used to own a Maxim X and I see a lot of similarities (same dashboard, etc) but I don't think these are mikuni carbs.

Looking forward to seeing what I can do with this bike.

    Thanks!
