I have a question about RPM's and the SECA motor. How much damage if any do I put on the motor if I run it hard every now and then. It has a really cool power band after six and redlines around 9.5 I think, I usually will shift around 8 / 8.5. I do not run it hard often but every now and then I get the urge.......

Should I just take it easy on the old bike and be glad it runs or does this motor like to turn RPM's every now and then.

Also I see my oil light come on when I am on it hard sometimes. I have read this was a known problem but maybe one of you smart guys can tell me if there is a fix for that or not.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of the light problem but I am guilty of exactly what you are talking about. I try to behave since it is an old engine. I feel like babying it will make it last longer but I have no hard proof. I don't know about the old bike but his old biker likes to turn the RPMS now and again

yeah agreed if they are running properly they sure like to turn some rpms. I beat mine up every time i ride... I figure its a well made bike that should hold together if everything is in good condition... If not.. then ill find out.

I know about the oil light problem on the VX virago series.. They are prone to tell you that you are low on oil all the time. I know you can take the floater sensor off and clean it up.. Along with 90% of the switches.. taking them apart and cleaning will usually get them back into working order.
