There are a few paint strippers formulated for use on the urethane parts of cars. I don't know the name of any but your local body repair supply should have a selection (I've even seen this stuff at Pep Boys and Napa).

Plastic stripper? I know I'm late on this posting...what are you up to? The covers can just be sanded, no?

I sanded one down by hand so far. It was a pain in the rear to do so. I'm actually going to use 3m stipper that you would use on air tool to remove the paint on the other. I used the 3m 320 green stipper which worked great but a lot of work.

The least abrasive method is the perfered method. This means you will spend some time on it, but you will have a sound part for use after the labor, not a molten puddle of chemical goo or a fractured part after the chemicals overcure the plastic.

I have an XJ1100J Maxim. It's logos, plastic(gold,NOT) were stripped and also had some discolleration on the plastic. I have sanded and primed with American Standard Plastic primer from Lowe's. I intend to spray with Rust-Olem GOLD which has zylene base, same as the primer. However the Gold say's not for outdoor use. Can I spray the EASTWOOD CRYSTAL CLEAR OVERCOAT and get UV protection and or can I send the tank and side shields emblems to somewhear to have them gold coated? What do you guys do for fading or missing GOLD on the Emblems?
