Hi, already have more questions! The bolt that holds in my gear shift lever (to the bike, just as a pivot point not the thing that turns to shift gears) keeps falling out. I lost the nut that goes on the back and went and got a pack of nuts to replace it but the first one fell off while I was riding. So I put two more on like a locknut deal and thought I was so smart. Fell off while riding and the gear shift lever started falling off. I guess the vibration spins them off or something, what do I do? Threadlock perhaps?

Also, I need to know how to adjust my clutch lever...it doesn't actuate until it's pulled about an inch in and when pulled all the way in, it doesn't operate all the way (if I rev it with the clutch pulled all the way in, it still pulls slightly (very slightly but enough to bother me)).

Hm, mine stays on with just one normal nut. How tight are you torquing the nut? Maybe you just need to put in on tighter.

You can use the medium threadlock (usually blue), but my preference would be for a split or star lockwasher. A nylock nut (one with a nylon insert) is another option but the second time you use them, they don't grip as well. Don't use the permanent threadlock (usually red) though, that stuff is nasty.

Use redneck threadlock (crossthread it) and it will never come off again. JK

seems to me the arm your putting the bolt in should be threaded on one side and not need a nut, the end of the bolt shouldn't stick out at all

Hm, good point. Maybe at some point, a prior owner stripped the threads so he drilled it out and got a longer bolt and a nut to hold everything together.

then the bolt head or the nut aint tightening on a flat surface
see what you can do about that, grind cut, file a flat on there
the bolt is probably trying to bend before it gets tight enough
to grip the shaft, blue lock tite on the shaft too

Thanks, guys but I think I have it taken care of. I tried uploading pics to show but my camera is too good for me or something so Ill try to explain. I removed the piece bolted to the side of my bike that the peg is mounted on (and that the bolt that pivots the gear shift lever goes through) and tightened that nut down as hard as I could, we'll see if it holds up. Problem was that I couldn't really tighten it hard enough without removing that piece.

I really need to know how to adjust that clutch cable though!
