    Hey everyone,

I'll make this nice and simple. I'm having some battery problems. Today i changed out the old battery for a new one and put some fresh acid in the new one as well today. Not sure how long it takes for a new battery to charge, but when i turn the bike on i get no lights on the display and the only one i will get is the oil light when i hit the start button. No sounds from the motor or anything for that matter. Any idea's?

PS: Battery had acid in it for 3 hours before trying to start the motorcycle.

    Thanks

did you folow the directions that came with the battery? usually you'd fill it and let it sit then recheck the levels and top off with distilled water if needed. then put it on a trickle charger for several hours. if this was done and the battery is charged check any wires ect that may have been moved around while changing the battery to start with

Battery didn't come with any directions. Thanks for the info though. I'll have to pull the battery out and let it sit overnight and put some water in it tomorow if it needs it. Would a car battery charger do if i don't have a trickle charger?

that should be fine as long as you have like a 2amp or 6amp selection/ slow charge. I just used my battery tender and let it charge for a little longer than what was needed. these are a great investment especially for over winter.

While the battery sits with the acid in it.
Tip it fron side to side front to back so the bubbles that form will rise up and out.

I think you missed the fact that you have to fully charge the battery once you add the acid and top it up.

2A is even a bit "hot" for a motorcycle battery; don't use anything MORE than 2A to charge it; "trickle" chargers are great, they usually put out 3/4A or 1A which is perfect for a motorcycle battery.

You're looking at about 4-6 hours to get it fully charged.
