any xj's in Iraq??

Hey, just wanted to check in on everyone and say hello from Iraq. Got here the other day and still in the process of getting set up. Decent accomodations, four man divided room, good food yet hot as heck. I'm sitting on my bed in AC on my laptop on a wireless network. It was NOT Like this back in 97, I'll tell you that.

Since I won't be riding until September and my babies are all tucked away for the second time in a calendar year, I thought I'd check in and see how the riding was for everyone else.

On the humerus side I have often wondered......how far could someone ride into Baghdad with forward controls with the bottoms of their feet showing before someone popped them.........

i've been working on getting a friends bike running lately. he had to go to iraq and the bike sat for quite awhile, carbs needed cleaning, possible stuck valve, etc.

while working on it, it occurred to me that it would be a pretty cool charity to get vets bikes running so they can ride when they get back.

think it would fly if something like that got going? might be hard to do since shipping bikes around can get spendy. maybe getting different shops to participate? just an idea.

anyone interested in brainstorming on this? (or is there already something like that out there?)

 

I am sure there are alot of people who would be more then willing to support service members ( Active USN myself ) Won't be back in the mix of things till late next year ( taking new Jets to the Bush ) but /salute to my brothers in arms.

 

I try to remember everyday that this country owes everything to our vets. Thank you for your service.

 

Dude, must feel good after being outside all day. I got to ask: What's you job over there? And, I bet you've tracked down a few other bike sites online, what do you like?

My neice just left for Iraq last month. She is in the Navy and crews on a P3. Thank you for serving, and come home safe.
