...is that even the most minor adjustment gives you carte blanche to put the rubber on the road and really open up on the throttle. :D

Even if it's just a new fuel line, new vacuum line, and an in-line fuel filter.

    Zoom zoom.

Too true! When I put the highway pegs on I had to take it for a test ride to make sure it didn't affect handling! :D Heck, I go out after I do anything to it, regardless of what it is, even just washing it, just to make sure!

It's a cardinal rule to TEST Drive after any and all Adjustments as well for any mods.. As well a TEST Drive is order Prior to any changes being made to know that the changes are in good or better working order!

Believe it's in the XJ handbook under, must do's =)

Yes and wide open throttle / high rpms are a necessity for proper testing.... your new pegs could disrupt the airflow into the airbox and lean out the mixture near redline right? You gotta check for these things :D

Just reading this made me take mine for a test drive. 150k down the highway just to make sure there was no oil leak. So far so good. Now to go test out the wind deflectent of my trunk with nothing in it.. ya thats it!

Well of course. One MUST ride a freshly washed motorcycle (after the intial toweling-off) to ensure that no droplets of moisture remain in the nooks and crannies. Nothing like a good measure of g-forces and wind blast to be sure...

Last evening I had to test ride my spin on oil filter installation and oil change. Everything passed the test. :)

I really enjoy swearing. Long, incoherent ramblings of a foul and fecund nature... And with two small girls, I need an excuse to let the language rip; that's why I do my own work, it's a nice excuse to swear. A lot.

Seriously, I just don't like the idea of someone else having their grubby mitts in the vehicle taking me down the road at 70 on two wheels. At least if the thing goes "Challenger" on me as I'm going down the road, there is no one else to blame.

nobody's mentioned that when it's raining outside, dishes need to be done, laundry needs to be done, house is a wreck. you can easily spend the whole day in the garage working on something that MATTERS.
