more lights to be more visible

    Hello all,another newbie here,I recently bought a 85 xj700,all is fine with it,however I thought I might add some driving lights so we would be more visible.Now I would like to know if this bike will produce enough to power for two 100 watt lights?thnx guys

    Nope.

    lol.

    Short and sweet, I have dual 30 watt lights, and it will drain my battery at idle.

    Above idle I am fine.

    BUT... 100 watts, no way.

    Get a multimeter on the battery and check idle voltage and rev it up and watch.

    I hit 14.8v at 6k.

    You can convert just about everything except the headlight to LED, which will save a lot of power - but 100watts x 2 is probably never going to happen :)

    i run a 55 wat fog/driving light mounted right below my headlight and dont ever have a problem, but i dont think you'll get two hundred out these old bikes.

    If you want to be more visible and see better, convert headlight to HID (35w vs regular 55/60w). Frees up some current for accent lighting to make you more visible. (Leds are cheap on current).
