So today the exidiot came over to pick up the kids.
I was cleaning the house and heard a crash outside, my heart sank. I looked out the window to see he had hit my bike that was parked in the drive way.
I almost became physically ill. It was a pretty morning so I was out on my bike and just left it parked in front of the garage.

He had tried to get to the right side of the drive way but still winged my bike.
I'm in the driveway crying "My bike, my bike!" He's yelling "My van, my van!"

He helped me pick it up and it was in a puddle of gas and oil. The mirror is bent, grip is scraped up, other than that I can't see anything else wrong with it. I pushed it into the garage and put it up on the center stand. I'm not sure what to do next. Change the oil I'm sure, but what else should I do to make sure idiot didn't mess anything up?

Oh and his van has nothing wrong with it.

I'm waiting until I calm down some more before going out there and doing a better assessment.

You can be sure he'll be getting a bill for any/all parts I have to buy to fix things.

You could file a police report as this can be helpful when dealing with the insurance company but police won't get too involved in an accident that happened on private property.

Well I changed the oil, and did a good look over the bike. It bent the highway peg, and the shifter along with the mirror. The mirror just needed adjusting and tightened up. Luckily I had a spare shifter in a box of stuff I got from my last trip to motorcycle salvage. The windshield is toast. The fall broke the mount that goes on the bracket. But I'm not too upset about that, I really wasn't fond of that windshield anyway. I cleaned it all up where it laid in a puddle of oil and gas, and he started right up.

I just got back from a trip around town and it has a clean bill of health. I'm still debating on sending him a bill for it. The police refused to come file a report they said to deal with it on our own because it was private property.

When he said "MY VAN!!!" You should have said...

    What about your nuts?

    What ABOUT my nuts?

    *Swift kick* haha.

Anyway, good to hear not much wrong... I'd definitely send him a bill for ~$100 or so...

You probably didn't even need to change the oil; but since you did I think he needs to pay for that, and for a new windshield (that you may never install.)

I would also ban him from ever pulling his van into your driveway again. He can stop in the street and turn his 4-ways on.

His insurance company called me today. Told me to take it to a Yamaha dealer to have a quote on parts. I told the lady, if I take it to a Yamaha dealer they are going to look at it and wonder what to do with it. I then told her everything that needed replaced. (I noticed today my starter button is falling out of the housing, don't know if the fall did that for sure, but it's going on the bill!) She still insists that I take it to a dealer... ooook I'm going there tomorrow morning.

Hell maybe I'll get more out of this deal than I thought :)

    Yeah!!

    What he said!!

My Yamaha dealer is actually pretty good about getting me parts, the only work I have let them do to it though, is to replace the fork seals, and I took the forks off for that.....

I took it to the local Yamaha dealer only to be told by the 18 year old kid working there; "These bikes are too old and I doubt the parts are even manufactured anymore"
So they take it around back and the mechanic there was amazed. He was literally in awe of my Seca and the shape it's in. Needless to say I was quite proud :) The estimate was faxed to Gieco and I was surprised to find a check in my mail box today. That little lizard is fast!

    I received a check for $545.67
I already ordered my starter button from Chacal :D

ALways good ot get some payback on the Ex lol

Glad to hear that you got some compliments and some $$ to help fix the bike back up.

I know the feeling about the young kids working service desks. I was in a fastenal to check on getting some bearings. THe kids says idunno what we have is over there if you need something else You can call the supplier and check if they have anything then come back and we can order them for you as they don't sell to individuals. WTF most parts/service people of 30 or above would make that phone call and ask about the part number(which I had) then give you the price and availability.
