I just bought this bike 1986 xj700. I notice where the choke cable connection is supposed to hook to but there is nothing to mount the cable in the location so it will flop out eventually. If anyone has this model of bike or knows this choke issue that i speak of please enlighten me.

At the handle bar or the engine side?

At the carbs is what i was wondering about. because i notice there is a nice rack like insert for the accelerator cable. then the choke has a off set v at the cable connection... but nothing to mount the cable its self.

If it's that clip/holder near the carbs, it's not really necessary, it's just a convenience. I got an XJ550 without that clip and I basically hold down the choke with my finger to get it started. I'd love to get the little clip for it, but I've never needed it.

The clamp at the carb side is just a screw through a slightly bent little square bit, that screws to the bracket; at least on the 550s.

You can see the cable and clamp in this pic, nestled in the red rag.

Yup your carbs are different from the ones pictured but the choke clamp looks the same.

i can tell now that my choke lever is mounted upside down on the rack and they neglected to put the mounting bracket for the cable back on the top of the carb on my bike. This is what happens when you buy a bike from a guy that moved here from India and takes his bike to the cheapest place in town to get worked on.

And depending on which bike you need this bracket for, I may have some good used ones available.......if it's for the XJ700, I need to know whether your engine is air-cooled or water-cooled.
