I've been checking my shim sizes / valve clearances for a few days now, and I found out that I dislike the charts. Being a PC nerd on my off time, I whipped up this spreadsheet to help me out.

It seems to jive with the charts with no problems, so give it a whirl if you like, and let me know if anything comes up with a size you would not expect, so I can debug it.

Disclaimer: CJ06XLT (me) will not be held responsible for any inaccuracies and/or incorrect shim sizes determined by this program. It's probably better to do this the hard way, at least to double check.

Don't get your hopes up but I may just have to brush up on my skills and get something web based for all of us folk who don't use Windows.

HeHe sorry that I don't like to have my life controlled by a company that is more worried about securing their dominance through shady (but legal) business practices and making sure they create products that don't play nicely with others rather and making a superior product.

I also like free things :)

Probably would since you wouldn't have to make any system calls. I always have access to a windows machine if I ever want to use it but If if find my self motivated and I have a little time I think a web app would be really slick. Ooo or how about one for a TI-83!

How about writing a Dragonfly plugin? Then maybe we can sweet-talk Snosheriff into making it a permanent addition to the site.

Bike model selector can be an AJAX (or not, if you wanna make it compatible with non-JS browsers) drop-down, since we know the clearance specs for pretty much every XJ out there...

This way nobody has to worry about OS compatibility. If you can get on XJBikes.com, you can use the shim calculator.

After you've done a couple of valve adjustments you can do them in your head.
