I have a maxim x that when you let off the gas it likes to start shaking the handle bars some times. It has brand new dunlops on it and has 4700 miles on the bike. Is this normal? I bought a 87 fz 600 brand new and would only do it at high speeds. Is this a Yamaha thing or is it normal with the maxim X?

Are the tyres seated properly on the rim, and balanced?
    Correct pressure?
Wheel bearings front and back ok?
Steering head bearings, tensioned or need replacing?
Swing arm bearings tensioned or need replacing?
Any bolts you undid replaced properly and tight?
Brake calipers replaced correctly and not dragging? If it didnt wobble before tyre replacement then id say its related to that process.

if it sdidn't do it before the tires, I'd say take that sucker back and make them redo the front tire/reseat/re balance it.

    Definately not normal. Not good

+1 > Get those tires checked.

Check the steering bearings for excessive play.

Also, the X has air assist in the forks. if one side has air and the other does not it will do weird things.
There is a cap on top of the fork that you unscrew and you'll see a valve stem.
You can NOT try to fill these at a service station or full pressure hose because they are such small volume.
It's also impossible to try and use a tire guage to check them since the minute you leak a little air, the pressure has changed completely.

I simply turn the regulator on the compressor down to about 10 psi (the forks take 17 psi max) and then fill.
others use a bicycle pump with a gauge on the pump, or an air tank that they let bleed down to a low pressure and then do both forks without refilling.
You can run a zero pressure but the front is a little "soft". BUT then you know for sure they are the same then! If you don't have any means of making sure the pressue is equal and very low, I suggest draining both sides and taking it for a sping to see if that changed anything.

Thanks guys, the front tire psi was at 12,put it 32,the air in the shocks was at 0 on one side and 6psi,set them both at zero.I tightened the 2 spanner nuts and the top nut and the problem was gone.No more wobble. It works alot more gooder[I love saying that].
