I'm new to the XJ family so bear with me and my questions.
Does anyone make highway pegs for the Maxim X? I'm old and my knees need to straighten out occasionally.

It depends were you are going to mount them.
Do you have crash bars or highway bars?
If so any peg with the same diameter will bolt right up.
Some folks have just used a straight pipe bolted on to the frame with u bolts.

It's hell to get old but I just put pegs on mine and it sure does help to be able to stretch out from time to time if your knees aren't as young as they used to be. I know mine aren't!

I don't have crash bars but I'm looking for some. I might try to find a straight pipe that looks and fits well.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

You can also get brackets to put pegs on if you don't want crash bars. See my gallery for a pic on my bike when I first got it. I have since changed to crash bars.

    Bill,

Where are those brackets available. I'd rather have crash bars but I can't find them.

Heres a picture of how I mounted my pegs. I made the brakets out of some scrap that was laying around and, I was able to adjust them to my exact height. They're mounted so well that I can stand on them without having them budge an inch. I like them better than the crash bar mounted type that they replaced. Hope this helps.

    Cheers

I installed some yesterday and they are great for my lower back. My back has plagued me for years and I need to change positions to keep ridding for more then 20 min with out pain. I have crash bars so it was easy and cheap.
I got a nice set of flat rubber insert style for 23 bucks off ebay and they work great. once I got them tight enough so they would not move.....the bars bend but they stay put. I did replace the bolts with better harder ones for a buck.
I love them! I kept them high on the bars so they wont hit the ground before the crash bars. That would suck....lol

MC Enterprises has a universal set of highway pegs that look nice. I have them on my bike... I'm not positive they'll fit a maxim X, but it's worth a look.

Anyone know the diameter of the XJ frame? I'm at work right now otherwise I'd just run a tape measure out to the bike, but I'm looking at some pegs on the bay made to mount onto 1 1/4" crash bars, thinking of just mounting them right to the frame since I don't have crash bars. Thoughts?

Wouldn't the engine be in the way? I know when I did my forward controls on my 650 that I had to offset the plate about 3 inches from the frame to clear the motor.
