so, in order to check my valve clearances, i had to remove my valve cover.

in order to remove my valve cover, i had to remove my horn(s).

in order to remove my horn(s), i had to remove the bracket that my front turn signals are mounted on.

now that it's all put back together (and valves are in spec, albeit #2 exhaust is on the tight side of in spec) i have a funny turn signal problem.

left signals work fine. right side running lights no longer work. when i turn the switch for right side turn signals, my right signals do nothing, my left signals flash and so does my neutral light and so does my headlight.

please say this is simply because the right turn signal got disconnected.

I'm working on a electrical problem (lots of connectors were cut off and a couple wires were then soldered back together in the headlamp housing and the warning LCD computer doesn't work on mine) so I looked at the Hanes wiring diagram for anything like your problem since I've got it out here. 1st off, you should check for the obvious, plugs pulled apart in the computer and headlamp housings, and that's probably all there is to it. But if not, what I see in common with the symptoms you are describing is the diode matrix block. If you can get the Hanes manual they describe a ohm meter test for the diodes. Good luck. Mulout

    thanks for the "lead"

i haven't looked into this yet (can't stomach working on anything else until my brakes work properly) - and it wouldn't have bothered me, but a bike wired so that an unplugged turn signal will cause the neutral light and headlight to flash just doesn't make any sense to me.

it's an 81 XJ750RH Seca - not 100% stock (the signals are from a Honda of some type) and i KNOW the wiring has been modified by the previous owner. but - for the life of me, why oh why would a neutral light and head light be linked to a circuit with a turn signal flasher??

They're all part of the lighting circuit and you got a wire or two mixed up is all. This is gonna be funny after you figure it out and fix it.
