Not sure exactly what you are describing. There should be a brake switch in the handle - the wire from it should go into the headlight bucket and plug in.

Which end appears to have no connection? For the whole unit you need a new Master cylinder as it is all built together. PM Chacal I think he has some - you can also find them on ebay.

well it's the insides of where the wire coming from the headlight bucket to the brake lever is, inside of where the wire connects to the lever itself

Nope. Switch is removable, it just snaps in. Chacal should have them.

I believe that pictishusa means that the metal piece inside of the plastic housing, which attaches to the brake lever, is missing.

    Am I correct?

On a 650 Maxim there is no plastic housing. There is a hole in the casting the switch snaps into. When the lever is released it depresses the plunger in the switch.

Sounding like your switch is gone or broken - Carl posted a pic.

Yup Carl - I know about the switch - he said the "mount" was buggered by possible laydown and wanted to replace...

ok Carl, i tried getting the end of the old switch out and it doesnt want to come out it seems like it will snap if i force it, not that it matters much cause its allready toast but for future reference is there like a way that it comes out other than just prying it?

by the way, thanks for the info!

There is a hole in the bottom of the housing that a tab on the switch grabs into. You can push a punch (nail, screwdriver etc.) in there and release the tab.
