Hi. I have had my XJ650 Maxim for a week now, and have put just over 900 miles on it.

The average fuel mileage for the last 8 tanks has been 53.8 MPG.

The plugs are a nice medium dark brown color (slightly rich), and she pulls nice and hard right up to 9K.

Does that fuel mileage sound about right?

    I'm sure happy with it!

Sounds good to me. I got similar results. 50mpg with a windscreen and 53+ without.

6 or so years ago i use to get that...then one day it dropped and i think the best i can get now is 35mpg...and thats canadian gallons.

Not sure if it was going from factory mufflers with holes everywhere to aftermarket slip ons...or if it is a carburation issue.

I use to get about 190km's to a tank highway....now i get ansty and start looking for a gas station at 120...because the reserve doesn't seem to function either....or else its because i run that dry too

I could stand for losing a couple of MPG's with a woman on back. LOL

1500 miles total now since purchase, and staying at 53.8 MPG. That includes some great mountain riding on Sunday. I thought the uphill sections would bring it down some, but I guess the downhill negated that.

Just finished changing the oil and filter. Ready for more!

Still having tons of fun on the VJ!
