1981 XS850

    Lets say you had an 81 XJ750 sitting next to an 81 XS850.... what is different between them? Are the tanks different? I've been looking at pictures and I can't find a good one to tell from...

    I think the biggest difference is the number of cylinders. the XS has 3 cylinders while the XJ has 4. I don' t know about the tanks.

    The 81 850 I bought new was my all time favorite bike. Rode great - handled well. The XS850 is a triple as mentioned and had dual petcocks on the tank. The XJ is a 4 as mentioned and only one petcock.

    Styling is similar to the XJ
