from stock gauges to new tachometer and speedometer

    You should hook your tach on the negative off your coil. you should have two. I'm not sure what color wires are coming out of your coils, but on mine (XJ750SECA) there is a gray with black stripe wire coming out of the negative side off of the coil on the right side (throttle side) it goes to the TCI then from there to the stock tach location. Either way it is recomenmded to hook up to the negative off the coil. I have Mikesxs tach. it works great.

    The XJs have a 'wasted spark' ignition system. The plugs fire in pairs producing sparks at both the power and exhaust strokes of the cylinder. Unless there is some way to compensate for this in your electronic tach, I think the gauge will read twice the actuall RPM.

    CMoney: The Mikesxs tach is specifically for that type of ignition, so it will read just fine. If...he uses a mike's xs tach.
