    i have thought of doing this with a bike that i needed to get home when the bike would not start

    they actually make a trailer hitch type of platform for towing a bike in just that manner...

    my buddy saw one online someplace and being a welder, fabbed up his own with some improvements that he felt were needed. the one online had some 'skimping' going on to keep the price down...

    How about the guy who said "hope they disconnected the drive chain." Love it. Like it being in neutral wouldn't be enough, nevermind the fact that the picture clearly shows that particular bike to be shaft drive anyway.......

    Looks like an VX650 Virago. The sun is going down in the picture, and the car has lights on, but the bike does not.

    He needs some thing like my vehicle: Ford Falcon one tonne tray. That is how I got my XJ home.

    Neutral and removal of the drive chain would be different. In neutral the rear set of gears would still be spinning. The problem with that is the oil pump would not be pumping and the shaft would not be getting lubrication.

    With the chain disconnected that wouldn't happen...

    I only mention this because if one of you do try some of the crazy car carriers for bikes, it is important to know that you do have to remove the chain.
