    Hello
Can anyone give me a logical solution.
I have a 1985 Maxim X, runs fairly well but last few rides I started to notice that when the cooling fan kicks on the bike shuts off.
I can run down the road just fine but air is flowing through the rad keeping the bike cool. As soon as it gets to the temp that the fan kicks on, she shuts right down. It's a bit annoying because I can start it back up and keep going but this will burn up the starter eventually.
    Thanks to those who respond

Does it cut off only when sitting still and the fan kicks in or will it do it as you ride down the road?

Here is my thinking. The bike runs on the battery alone below 2k rpm. If your fan kicking in is killing the bike - have your battery load tested - may be failing. If it dies while running down the road - different problem.
