I’ve got a totally stock 82 XJ650 Maxim, less than 10K actual in pristine condx that I have been using for a scoot around town – I have a friend of mine that wants to ride, she’s 5’3” and can manage with the stock seat, but is not quite comfortable with it. Rather than lowering the bike, which I don’t want to do, I was wondering if there are any lower profile aftermarket seats out there, solo or dual, that might be able to provide that extra couple of inches we’re looking for. Anyone have any suggestions?

none just to bolt on, you have to custom fit it, or lower the bike... lowering it will be alot cheaper as in buying some smaller springs/shocks for the back, and plus I feel that the bike would handle better for her, I also have an 82 650 And I felt like I was riding so hi, and I hammered on it around turns and I can say I DO NOT LIKE DRIVE SHAFT BIKES, it flexed and the rear tire came unglued and I drifted around the turn, so their for my bikes now sitts almost on the ground, hardtail, I can hit a turn hard wide open and the tire will not cut loose, unless I want it to, lol but good luck

or maybe you could take the seat off and take to a shop and see if they can cut about 3" or so out of the foam, theirs alot of foam in these seats
