hey all, im starting to plan and buy parts for my winter build, Im not much of a mechanic but I was hoping to rebuild/ paint/ and drop an xj650 maxim. Still soft tail i should add, just lowered.
Anyway before i get into that mess i was hoping to get some ideas because you dont see many bobbers with luggage rack/ back seat. I know, I know, it wont really have the same bad assnes but i do a lot of long rides and I really need the extra space. Has anyone put together something like this that i can draw up some ideas from
    Thanks
And when the build eventually starts i'll get a post up for it. wish me luck

I think either of these: Hard Bags 1 or Hard Bags 2 would look pretty slick on a lowered Maxim. Give it a nice Lowboy Bagger look.

once you add all that stuff its not much of a bobber anymore...but you can still get a old school good looking bike with all that good luck

There are smaller ammo cans than that, also you could just wear a backpack, Maybe a round tank across the front forks just below the headlight? you could cut 1 end off and hinge and latch it, or slice it horizontally and open it like a lunch box.

I'd take my bobber from coast to coast in a heartbeat if I needed to (or had the time and money) I liked the idea of a bobber, but wanted the protection of a winshield and the storage of saddlebags. It's all about being comfortable while I ride, be it to work or for leisure.
I know, I know, the original idea of a bobber is to strip off all excess weight and make things light and simple. So after I accomplished that, I started to add the stuff on I needed to make it the bike I wanted. So I added a windshield (Memphis fats shorty version) and lowers to keep the updraft in check. And I needed saddlebags for riding to work (holds my cover and rain gear too)
Not a very good photo but you get the idea. I have a small Harley luggage rack on the back too to strap down my lunch cooler. It's so much fun to ride!!

Thanks Painter! thats gnarly good. Exactly what i was thinking, its nice to have some visualization before i start tearing in to mine.
The saddle bags look pretty slick to. I wouldnt want to Copy and paste but you can expect a similair bike to pop up in the next couple months, but black and gold of course.
