This is a question for all those rebuilders out there!

While pulling the head on my seca I dropped one of the "collars" that are on the camshaft cap retaining bolts.
Its the small piece that surrounds the 10 mm bolts, used to determine direction of those caps.
After getting the head off, I still havnt seen that bugger in the cam chain well.

    Should I try a magnet?
Should I foget about it and button her back up?
Should I break the enginge down even further and try to find it?

I have never even gone this far into an enjine before, and prefer not to go further...any help appreciated. Thanks all

Don't leave it Ass, I take it you have drained the oil, remove the filter & get in there with a long magnet probe, you might have to rotate the crankshaft, if it has landed on top of it, good luck.

Are you pulling the Cylinders ?

I'd try a magnet on a string. But without pulling the cylinders it may be tough to see/get it by the cam chain.

    Definetely gotta find it....

pull your oil pan and see if you can get it from the bottom. LOL when me and my brother were rebuilding his Kz650 i dropped a probe down there on accident. we got it though by going through the oil pan.

Try fishing it out with a magnet first before pulling anything open. There are magnets on a telescopic pen which are perfect for the job. But you must definately find it before you can start it! With a little bad luck it ended up between the gearboxshafts, and you can guess what will happen then!

    **Update
I got the telescopic magnet out.
Tried through the cam chain tunnel- No luck
Tried through the oil drain- Still no luck

Ended up pulling the exhaust and unbolting the oil pan.
Sure enough there is my part.
Thanks agian for the advise my friends.
