i was riding to work,as i do 5 out of 7 sometimes even 6 days a week ,in peak hour traffic, for the last 2 years without any problems.
But yesterday morning, i had a car try to merge into my lane & wanted to be where i was, when i saw her moving into my lane on the brakes AS HARD AS I COULD, rear lockup sliding sideways upright   trying to pull up in time b4 she hits me  too late she has hit my front tyre not once but twice, this gave the handlebars a great death wobble  :x :x it gave me a bit of highside, drifted into another lane of traffic all whilst still hangin on,my foot was draggin along the road, but i had no time to even think about my foot on the road,AS THE PERSON DRIVING THE CAR TOOK OFF & LEFT THE SEEN,SO iam still hanging on ,got it together & set off after her,it 2.5klms to get her to stop
once i got to her she did not even ask if iwas ok,look at damage,to car or bike, did not even want to exchange details. i said look lady i need something to contact you,as my foot was draggin on the ground was now giving me a hard time, plus damage to my bike,it will be going further.
got to work & went saw the boss ,& got to take me to the hosiptal,3.5hours later after xrays, good news iad no broken bones, just some ligement damage,go home & rest it.
straight to the cop shop to make a report, the n home .
rang insurance copmany,i was told to take it to the biike shop & get them,to look at it,as iwas stilla ble to ride it afer the accident,it may be ok or it might be a sorry goodbye.
sorry for the rant it 2.30am here in NSW aus.

    cheers albear

    I think you're justified, mate.

Might want to consider looking into whether she can be charged with hit and run. Oh, and I thought we were the only ones who referred to the police station as a "cop shop"? ;)

Dang - take her to court! I'm not a sue happy guy but that is really blatant. Hit and run - attempted homicide - driving while stupid - whatever you can hang on her.

    Hope you heal quick!

Glad to hear you are still with us. I too had a moron try to merge into me in traffic. A little while back. I had room to get away as I knew what he was trying to do before he even did it. Thing is while he was trying to merge into me I seen the passenger look right at me and say nothing. THen they park not even 1/8 afrter wards. Take it easy and remember to the cager you are invisible and they are out to get you.

Scary, hope things go ok for you.
Sad thing is the bitch probably wont even get fined.
Happened to most people on a bike at some stage, gotten away with bruising and gravel rash so far myself, touch wood!
Good luck with the bike and your recovery.

I have seen all manner of crap. I went a long time between bikes one time. Then the day after finally getting one on the road, I had a woman pull right out from in front of me. I was sliding side to side as the brakes started locking. I got stopped about a foot from her door. She pulled off the road and simply fell to pieces. AT least it had an impact on her.

I always give guys on bikes as much room as I can. It amazes me to see how many Navigators and Escalades like to pull right up on a biker's rear. A biker absolutely has to assume the worst of anybody on the road.

As much crap as has been built up by movies on stupid reckless behaviour by bike gangs, these guys are on cruisers. My personal experience is that stupidity is far more commonly displayed by the crotch rocket crowd.

The dip in the economy has witnessed a proliferation of scooters in my area. The way many riders of these like to display stupidity is by holding up traffic. If the limit is 55, your scooter can only manage 35, and you have a couple of cars behind you, pull to the side and let the cars pass. You are impeding traffic and that is a chargeable offense in VA as well as causing resentment of your presence.

One guy posted on here about not wanting to be passed. If you are cruising at 55 and someone goes to pass you at 65 and you speed up to prevent it, well, I may assume that you inadvertantly let your speed slip and my presence brought it to your attention. That is fine. If I pull back in behind you and then you slow back down, you are a jerk and a menace to everyone else on the road. I am new here. I do not want to make enemies, but your behaviour as described in your post puts your emotional age at approximately 8. I hope that you do not really act that way...especially on a bike. Remember, there are many less than mentally stable people on the roads. You are on a bike. Maybe the driver of the hummer has just snapped after witnessing your actions. Maybe he waits until things settle, goes to pass. He is abreast of you and you start to speed up. Maybe he simply pulls right into you on purpose. This type of thing is why I always had trouble accepting the sequence in Mad Max where the kid in the old 50s chebbie is being terrorized by the bike gang. I can assure you, had I been driving that car, there would have been many dead bikers. So dude, respect your own life at least!!!

Didn't mean to highjack this thread. My apologies.
