I'm new to the site and was wondering if anyone else is having problems with their bike fouling plugs.
It started out if I didn't ride it within two weeks. Now it will do it after sitting for one day. One
hop told me the boots before and after the carbs are letting air in by cracks and the fuel to air mixture
is off and causing it to run rich. They also said you can't find new boots either. I have installed hotter
plugs for now to see if I can get some riding in between plugs. Any suggestions!! Help in Va.

This sounds like a question that should have been posted to the discussion forum. I'm going to disagree
with your mechanics because the leaks introduce unmetered additional air, leaning out the mixture which
should result in a lean backfire and clean plugs. What bike do you have and what plugs are you running?
Please post this question to the forum and give as many details as you can about the issue and any modifications
you have made (or know of) to the machine. Thanks, Robert.

are you riding with the choke on at all? this would cause frequent fouling

82 xj750 maxim. some history. Bought 9/00, carbs cleaned 10/00, 2/02 pet cock repaired, replaced plugs.
At this point just when It sit longer than two weeks it would foul the plugs. About May06 when I asked question
started fouling plugs sooner. I put hotter plugs in NGK BP6ES in. Ran about the same but after two weeks they
fouled them. Today I cleaned them tried starting nothing. Put new plugs in BP7ES nothing. Just turns over.
Doesn't even tries to start. I only ride with the chock on until it warms up. About 5 to 10 minutes. Thanks for any help!

amazing the bike started today. Put sea foam carb cleaner in gas and rode it for awhile.

any suggestion on what to try next. I would like to get it running nice so I can sell it.

Intake boots for this bike are readily available, hit some of the vendor links we have listed. I see them all the time new on FleaBay. Before making that purchase (should see them around $100), I would suggest you try to verify the leaks using WD-40 with the little red tube. Fire the beast up and hunt for the leaks around all the boot attachment points. Listen for the idle to smooth out and/or increase as the WD momentarily fills the cracks. If this doesn't turn up anything, check for a dirty air filter. That will richen up the mixture no matter how hot a plug you stuff in there. Best of luck to you!
