Folks, I have an opportunity for an XJ750 parts bike. I only need a couple of things off of it - the gas tank and a couple of lights ... This is a survey to see if I could recoup most of the cost by parting it out in fairly short order lest I face a serious cash flow issue.

What parts would people be interested in and wt would you be willing to pay?

Please respond by PM. If I get enough interest, I'll get it and offer it up.

If you express interest in a`particular part and I get it, I will offer those parts out on an individual basis to thoe requesters before openig the rest to all.

    Thanks a bunch/

    Follow up info:

I went and looked at the bike. Here are the missing parts - everything else is there and the engine starts and runs.

    Missing:
The insides and cover of the box on the handlebar brake.
    Left handlebar mirror.
Brake lever is missing the last inch and a half or so.
Front brake calipers are both missing.
    Right side/battery cover.
Instrument panel lens is broken and tach & center gauge are unusable. Speedometer appears intact and operational.

    Chrome looks quite nice.
Carbs and boots look great. Hats look a little dull but not rusted. Maybe just need polishing. Carb bodies are very clean as is most of the rest of the bike. As far as the shop owner recalls, the carbs were redone before the former owner decided to abandon rather than repair.

This is an abandoned bike from a Yamaha shop where the person decided not to pay for the repairs. The shop has been closed and the guy wants to get rid of some things that have been gathering dust. Bike has been garaged since that time - at least 4 years.

Forgot to mention: The bike has 17K miles on it. I couldn't tell what year.

I could use the rear brake and gear shift assemblies for another project I am working on.

    Thanks

The reason there aren't any pics yet is that I haven't actually bought it yet. I wanted to be certain that I could sell off enough parts fast enough so as not to cause financial hardship with thins like ... mortgage payment, etc.

I have decided to get it. I should have it on Tues or Weds and will post pics of various things as quick as I can.

Aw, c'mon- go buy it and join the rest of us -financial hardship members. Strike while the iron is hot, or it won't be there long enough to wait on it. You'll be able to get the money back, unless you pay a ridiculous amount. Besides, look at it this way- you're buying the parts you need. Everything else is free. Then you can sell the parts, or keep the parts, either way, you got them for free cuz you only paid for the parts you needed. :)

For those interested, here are two pics from the seller of the bike. I will have more detailed ones after I get it on Weds.

Sorry, carbs and instruments gone. At this point I have the engine (which someone is considering now), the wheels, fenders, footpegs, ignition/gas cap, side covers and a couple of other things. I had an offer at one point for the frame but I couldn't ship then. I am going to check and see if he still wants it in the next couple of days.

The seat, foot pegs (front/rear/mounts) are all available.

The grab bar was broken on one side and has been tossed.

By "highway pegs", I think the answer is "no" for pegs. There is a large bar that V's down from the higher part, spreads out then goes horizontally across the bottom on which you could rest your feet. I thought it was called a "highway bar"... I originally intended to put that on my 650, but I am not sure now. ... It clamps on with U-Bolts.

The tank is not for sale - I actually bought the bike to get the tank.

As far as price, generally I ask for about 20% less than the average price they are selling for on eBay. Shipping, of course, is on top of that. No profit in shipping, exactly what it costs to ship.

    Make me an offer.

    Mike
