ok I have a 1985 maxim x that I have customized... I have been searching for a corbin style seat similar to the gunfighter seat they produce but I need to find something based on the maxims measurements.

The rear I chopped and fabricated a new fender for giving it a smaller bobber style fender and removed the springs from the rear shocks to give it the low rigid look.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A SEAT TOOLED TO THAT STYLE

From what I understand they don't make them. I could be wrong.

I was thinking about buying a used seat from ebay, and redoing it. They show up once in a while. Maybe someone here has an old one. I think some of the non-X's had the same seat too.

If you don't mind losing your ride for awhile, then just reupholster your own seat.

Let me know how this turns out! I am especially interested in the comfort.

I've never seen em but I'll keep my eyes open for it. Best thing you could probably do is fabricate the whole thing yourself...

If all goes as planned I'll be doing a massive overhaul on my seat this weekend. I already shaved about 3 inches of foam off it, but phase two is going to be make it a single seater with a rear fairing similar to the look of the old BMW cafe racers.

I just ordered an original seat that will need to be recovered no matter what so I am thinking of just shaving it to fit what I want or fabricating a new fender and getting a solo springer style seat like what is used on bobbers.

if I can manage to find a company that can do it I am going to price out having one made for it

This is a good question. I have a xj700 maxim, and I would like to change its look. im innteresting in dropping my rear end on it . and getting rid of the passenger seat with the sissy bar on it.for a more sporty look. keep me informed I would love to see some pic of your bike also, so I can see what mine would look like. be safe

    Hey ridz,

Is it a padded sissy bar?
I'd be interested in it if so.

    :D

ok guys I have not been able to find a seat but what I have found is a kit to make a fiber glass seat pan and just use the hardware from the original seat and have it covered any way you want it.

ok ridz one easy way to drop the bike is to kill the shocks and how you do that is to cut the over spring off and drill a hole into the shock to kill it make sure you have an extra set in case you dont get it right or if you dont like it I also cut the rear section off of my bike and left just enough to hang a fender I fabricated giving it a more old school chopper look to it.

I will try to get some pics of the work up this weekend
