    Hi all!

My name is Shari & I started riding 2 years ago, but only started REALLY riding recently, since my hubby bought me a Maxim XJ700N, and I LOVE IT!!

We just got back from a 2 day trip to the mountains here in WV where I am from. (I live in the northern panhandle), we went downstate to Seneca Rocks.
It was the best ride ever! I need to find me some highway pegs.

I notice a lot of Harley riders looking over my bike...It is a sharp looking bike for it's age! I got it with around 14,780 miles on it almost a month ago & It has 16,035 on it now.

The only prob I have with my XJ is the hard starting in the morning.
We are pretty sure the carbs need cleaning.

    Awesome site here. :D

    Here is my new bike!

Welcome to the site Shari. Nice looking bike! The gang on this board will have you tearing into the carbs in short order - I promise.

Pretty bike. Check the rear brakes (visual inspection). Enjoy the riding.

Welcome from another new member!! My 82 XJ650 has 50k + on it. You have one nice looking bike. Hard start in the morning....Check for a weak battery first. If the battery is weak.......the ignition system gets it's turn at the juice last.

You should keep in mind highway pegs are not always a good idea. If you lean to hard they could scrub causing you to lose control. Hard starting could be you cold start circuit in the carb bowl.

    thanks everyone!

    I appreciate everyone's comments!!

I'm thinking that the highway pegs will be up high enough to not so much worry about scrubbing?

    Welcome aboard!
There are few highway pegs that will fit the 700.
    Some have made their own.

I got lucky and found a set of OEM case guards and you can easily mount highway pegs off them but as jarreddaughtry mentioned you need to pay attention to the height and get a set that folds up & in.

The first thing you want to drag is the footpegs under your feet (they are spring loaded and collapse nicely) but will REALLY get your attention.
If you can, support the bike and lean it WAY over while adjusting the highway pegs. If the regular pegs hit first you are probably OK.

The case guards are almost impossible to find though. I believe the virago guards will fit also but do some research first.
HAP has some information here for the XJ700XN which takes the same guards I believe.

Welcome to you and your hubby Shari! This is a fantastic site with everything you'll ever need to keep your XJ in tip top shape - and with a little more than 16 thousand miles on it, that shouldn't be hard at all. There's an incredible amount of knowledge and generosity here, as I've found out countless times. And no wonder those Harley characters were checking out your bike, it's better looking and a good deal faster!
    thx,
    baz
