Need to pick your brains again, folks, and I appreciate the help.

I want to lower my 650R Seca drastically. Not too concerned with loss of handling since I ride pretty slow to begin with. I'd like to drop her 1-2 inches. I assume shorter shocks will take care of the rear. How do I shorten the front end?

I think this bike will take nicely to being slammed down on the ground. Any ideas?

    Thanks and regards,
    Furyus

Easiest way to lower the front end is to slide the fork tubes up in the triple tree.

I too am looking to do this (lower the front end an inch or two). But I'm curious as to what kind of suspension differences there are in the Seca R vs. the Seca Turbo. I know in the back there's air suspension, but I'm not readily aware of what comprises the front.

As BlueMaxim suggests thats the quickest way to loose a inch or so on the front.

Might have a tough time with the stock Seca bars though, there's not much room there for the forks to slide up without hitting the handlebars.

Is this for height or for looks?

The fella who brought my maxim is shorter than I am. I had a spare seat in decent condition that we're going to cut down and refoam... should gain him a few inches in leg length.

Mine is purely for looks. I'd like to lower the front end so it looks a bit sleeker.

Just an update. Contacted Forking by Frank and received a quote of $250, shipped for custom forktubes. Thinking of slamming her 1.5 to 2 inches. Frank said I'd need to cut my springs .5 inch beyond whatever drop I choose. Will get new Progressive springs and completely rebuild the forks, obviously. Depends on what rear shocks I can find and how I decide to overcome the centerstand/sidestand issue with such a setup. May decide to just stay stock, but if I do slam her, I've gotta do it right.

    Regards,
    George

i dropped my forks an inch , and it turns quicker, u have to watch out for the clearance from the mud gaurd to what ever is the lowest thin above it , so that under max dive it doesnt hit and wreak anything , cheers brenton

Why not take apart the fork tubes, take them to a local machinist, have him put them in a collet in the lathe(a jaw type chuck would probably mar the chrome) have him chop off an inch and put a new groove for the end cap retaining ring

And by the way i hope i not sound offensive above , ny lingo on da tv which we are bombarded with here in aus is the reference , and the word is not generally used [only the pussies here] in real talk here as to slam [by none pussies] one ever gets up again....

tis why when hit a roo/or any animal [its their fault] or brick wall [its too] , twas slammed :- )...
